Site History and Milestones

1996

Compiling 26 months worth of FIDO postings, John Cropper
   augments them with CLEC-provided information and
   posts a simple, text-based web site on the-server.com
The site draws 10,000 visitors by the end of 1996

1997

Exchange and dialing information is expanded
AreaCode-Info.Com launches as a graphical, 
   domain-based web site, which quickly becomes a
   book-marked resource for IXC and CLEC personnel
   industry-wide.
Daily traffic reaches 100 unique visitors per weekday

1998

Taking a crash-course in cartography, an AC-I-designed
   maps section is added in earnest.
The press sits up and takes notice: "AreaCode-Info.com
   contains probably the most detailed history of area codes
   on the Web and maybe anywhere." - Ronald Campbell,
   Orange County Register 10/15/98

Site staff doubles as Eric Morson volunteers his talents.

1999

Daily traffic reaches 150 unique visitors per weekday and
   the site ticks its 100,000th visitor
Site staff increases again as Sergiu Rosenzweig steps
   in to assist with analysis.

2000

Traffic surges as AreaCode-Info.Com's US Area Code
   Maps are published in ABC Directory
The Los Angeles Times interviews and quotes Eric
   Morson in a December article about California's Area
   Code Crisis.
The site reaches its 250,000th visitor

2001

The press focuses on area codes as AreaCode-Info.Com
   is featured in USA Today, The New York Times and
   Canada's National Post during the first quarter.
Eric Morson is the featured guest on WCTC-AM's
   call-in show concerning New Jersey's area code crunch.
The site ticker rockets past the 500,000 visitor mark

2002

A back-to-basics design is rolled out (you're looking
   at it!) and faster-loading pages are incorporated.
The one millionth visitor drops in to visit during
   the third week of May.

2004

Our TWO millionth visitor checks in! 
 

2007

Our THREE millionth visitor checks in during the second week of April!
